Consider This Before You Write Or Read Anything

18 Nov

Are you a poetry lover? Do you love to read? Are you a writer? Do you enjoy expressing yourself through words? Well, you will want to read this!

When I first started reading poetry, I would think to myself, ”What on earth could they be talking about?” The more I fell in love with poetry, the way I looked at poetry changed. I would think to myself, ”What does this poem mean to me?” This is what is fun about poetry and all pieces of writing works. Not everything means the same thing to every individual. Think and relate the poems and writings to your own experiences, morals, values, and beliefs. This is the freedom we as individuals have with writing and reading. Writers are free to express their thoughts and feelings through words and readers are free to interpret what they read how ever their mind allows. Have fun reading poetry and all your favorite writings. Take your time to analyze the meaning of what you are reading to best fit your life. Open your mind and get creative.

As an author of poetry and a writer, I care most how the readers can benefit from my poems and writings. I write with the hopes to inspire, motivate, heal, entertain, and broaden the readers way of thinking. I hope this blog post will give you a different perspective and approach when embarking on a reading journey. Also for writers I hope this blog post opens up your mind. Instead of trying to force your views on your readers, have an open mind to allowing the readers to think freely.

My poetry book, ”POETIC HEART” Volume I is now available. Links are below. ”POETIC HEART” is filled with over 90 poems for young adults. That motivates, inspires, heals, and entertains. All poems were inspired based on a true life journey to fulfill a dream.

An Unexpected Lesson Within A Book

12 Nov

Book Review: Love Lost by: Love Belvin

I am not one that appreciates the art of foul language or reading sexually explicit scenes to detail. Which this book definitely has a lot of. The content of the book involves foul language, sex, drugs, and violence. So right off the bat I will honestly say I do not recommend this book to the youth or anyone who doesn’t appreciate foul language, book porn, and crime.

I will admit though, that I was glad I decided to look past those factors and read the entire book. This book reminded me of a good life lesson. Which is if you give something a try that you normally wouldn’t accept or do, you will never know what you’ll find. Might be even love or a positive life changing experience. By the end of the book I was sad it was over. The ending leaves you hanging and wanting more. There is a continuation of the book and I am anticipating the read.

All in all this book, ”Love Lost” is very well written. Many of the characters of the book revolve around the ghetto, the hood, or projects and the dialogue and writing style flows perfectly with the theme and life style. I was able to feel the love growing between the characters and the pain they endured.

Simply a great story of love and trust lost which slowly rebuilds. The story is also about the main characters starting from humble beginnings and growing into success. It’s a real life story kind of book. The book is worth the read and you will end up wanting to read the book that follows.

This Topic Inspired a poem:

Butterfly Life

Caterpillar crawls through life,
Embracing the feel of the ground,
Life gets tough, so tough,
Enclosed in a casing,
A cocoon life style,
The strugle gets deeper,
Never giving up,
Dreaming of breaking free,
One day it sees the light,
The dream come to life,
Something unimaginable,
The beauty,
Now embracing wings of flight 🙂

A Writing Challenge Worth Trying

2 Nov

Are you a writer or an author? Have you ever thought about writing a book or novel? Well, November is the month to do it! Here is why?

Happy National Novel Writing Month! Yes you heard right. November is officially National Novel Writing Month. NaNoWriMo.org has put out a very captivating challenge for writers. The challenge is to write a full book or novel in the month of November. That is thirty days to write a whole book or novel. Giving the writers a word count goal of 50,000 words to complete the book or novel in thirty days. All in the honor of National Novel Writing Month. Sounds overwhelming right! Well, after breaking it down mathematically it’s quit simple really. That breaks it to down to 1,923 words for 26 days of November, with four days off in the month. That’s about two to three hours of writing to meet the day’s word count goal. You will find that once you sit down and focus on the writing task in front of you the words of the story line flow like water. One helpful tip I found useful is if during your none writing moments you get an inspiration for your story line grab a pen and note it down. Deal with the details during writing time.

NaNoWriMo.org is a very helpful website during this writing challenge. It is designed to help you through the process. You can make an account by signing up. There are discussion forums to chat with other writers to support eachother. There are helpful tips and information you will want to read, such as how to write a novel. There is also a word count tracker to help you track your progress. It is a challenge, so you are competing with others. But do make it a healthy competition for yourself. This is meant to be a fun experience. If this is your first time writing a book, you might discover a hidden talent within yourself. If you are an established author you might produce a successful book or novel this month. Have fun writing fellow writers 🙂

What An Impact Music Makes! We Have To Appreciate!

1 Nov

Do you love music, art, movies? How do these artistic outlets make you feel? Do you notice after listening to a love song, you feel more love? Or a break up song you feel empowered, ready to move on? As an artist, I have respect for all the arts and their creativity. Here is why.

Music guides emotions and feelings. Music can resurface an experience and for the duration of the song bringing you to relive the experience. The effects can even linger for a while after you heard the song. Music even heals. You can listen to a song or piece of music that all of a sudden gives you an epiphany that brings about healing and forgiveness. After listening to an angry song you might find yourself feeling upset. The song is able to resurface those feelings. This is something that makes music very powerful. Listening to a song can make you feel love, faith, pain, hurt, motivation, etc. Movies, TV shows, and any kind of art piece can have the same effect. It is very important to carefully choose the music, movies, etc. you listen to because it does have a huge impact on you.

Great musicians and singers put their feelings and heart into their music. They leave a piece of their heart with each piece they produce. This phenomenon draws you in and your feelings become one. For that moment that your listening to the song, it is as if you become a part of their experience, where you share your related experience. In short it’s a blending of eachothers emotions and feelings for that moment. It’s quit magical really. It’s what I call, love making with music.

With this being said is why I love being an Artist and have much respect for all Artists. With the impact our art has on our audience, it is a huge responsibility. We share our heart, our love with each performance, with every piece of art we produce (songs, music beats, movies, TV shows, paintings, sculptures, etc.)

This topic inspired a poem:

Music Artist

Music filled with heart and feelings,
Blend yours into the music,
Let it draw you in,
Become one with the music,
Share yourself with it’s vibe,
Join in the magical experience,
Giving you a piece of my heart, my love,
With every piece of music,
Experience the art of music 🙂

Bonus poem:

LOVE MAKING WITH MUSIC

Making love to music,
Music making love to me,
My heart beats to the beat,
Music vibrations taking over me,
Mind on a journey,
All I hear is the music,
Lighting my soul,
Dancing pure joy,
Feeling extreme serene,
Just me and magical music,
Music filling me up,
Such a sweet love,
Love making with music 🙂

Do What You Love & Encourage Love

31 Oct

Do you ever feel your working in the wrong career field? Are you unhappy with your job? Are you at work thinking about your hobby or interests? Are you bored with your job? Well, here is something to consider.

At one point in my life I answered yes to all those questions. During my life time I have had many different job titles, in many different career fields. Many in which I was unhappy and unknowly made coworkers unhappy to. Took me years to realize that where my passion is, is where my career ”goldmine” lies. I say ”goldmine” because like the famous quote says,”If you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life.” Also, when your happy at work, your coworkers are happy to. Luckily for us all, it is never to late to start a new career. Also, in ever passion/interest their is a career title available.

There are ways to prevent this from happening to the next generation, our children. I believe children should be taught early to get to know their passions and see themselves in a future career involving their passion. The school system should have a mandated program within the curriculum to help students realize their passions and to link these passions to a possible career. This program should be enforced starting in kindergarten. The educational staff should frequently encourage students when their evidently talented on a particular subject or interest. Parents and family members should also take action. Parents and family members can talk to and encourage the kids about what they notice is the childs interests, help the kids explore creativity and different activities.

If you do what you love and encourage others to do they same, will help make the world a better place. If from youth we know what our passions and interests are, we can start working in our destined field from the start. Before you know it you’ll land the perfect position especially for you. Imagine how at peace you will be and the work environment. When you do what you love you put your best quality work in, which in return benefits all involved. God created everthing and everyone in perfect balance with a destiny. Learning our destiny early in life equals peace.

This topic inspired a poem:

When We Do What We Love

As we do what we love,
Dreaded work day cease,
Encourage others to follow love,
Soon peace and destiny reign,
Quality input,
Quality output,
Happiness prevails,
Involve the youth early,
Break the dreaded work day curse 🙂

Book Review: Beyond Oria Falls: Dwellers Of Ahwahnee Book 2

30 Oct

Book Review: Beyond Oria Falls: Dwellers Of Ahwahnee Book 2 By: Sheryl Seal

A story of soulmate love, family togetherness, true friendship, courage, good, and evil all wrapped up in magic continues. Sheryl Seal continues to remind her readers how talented of a writer she is in ”Beyond Oria Falls: Dwellers Of Ahwahnee Book 2. Who’s creative storytelling ability captivates, leaving you wanting more. I have read book 1, now book 2, and can’t wait till book 3 is released from the, ”Dwellers Of Ahwahnee” series. I truly would love to see this book series as a movie series. I have not found a book series that can take me on a journey in a long time like this one.

Book 2 starts off with a brief introduction of book 1. Then taking you right to the point where book 1 ended and continued seamlessly. This way you never miss a beat. Trust me, you would not want to. The sections in book 2 are divided by the characters, as they narrate their part. Instead of being divided by chapters. I found this to be a great writing strategy. It gives each character their chance to shine. As each character walks you through their eyes. This way the readers can really get a good feel for each character.

There are many wise lessons in the book. These lessons the readers can learn from and use in their own lives. There are also many great inspirational quotes within the book. Here are a couple: ”You have to master the past in the present, or your past will master your future.” ”The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past.” These are just two from the many.

Today 10/30/13 & 10/31/13 This book is FREE! Here is the link for your free Kindle copy: http://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Oria-Falls-Dwellers-Ahwahnee-ebook/dp/B00E8JTSVG/ref=pd_sim_kstore_1
